I start with the development of the charcoal study of the dried sunflower that I started on Saturday-
This was continued with quite fast drawing and smudging. I finished with some dark tones, unsmudged, and some broad strokes with a putty rubber. I am going to leave it like this as I don't think charcoal should be worked to a refined finish. I don't want to lose the energy of the subject.
On a different tack, I have revisited a way of working I tried years ago involving collage from cut up magazine photos. The start is to look for simple background sections, preferably where there is some gradation of tones or colours-
I selected the following bits-
These sections were cut into thin wedges and stuck together-
I also did a school exercise type collage cutting up and re-arranging a face-
More triangles were arranged into sections. Different designs can be made by putting the "building bricks" together in different ways-
And again-
And again-
I have various ideas of what might be tried and will keep you posted!
Oh and I have played with an image on PhotoScape-
And again-
Creativity is often the result of play. Lots of "what if?"
