Wednesday March 3. Some recent pastel work.

I start with a repeat of one that was buried in last weeks blog. A blurry image in my shaving mirror-

I picked some parsnips from my allotment. I love the fact that growing them badly on stony ground produces some distortions

The above photo was taken in dappled sunlight, some of which passed through a blue glass vase. I put the photo onto my tablet and started a pastel drawing-

Using charcoal rather than the stronger black pastel along with blue, green, yellow, red and white I produced this-

I like the ambiguous nature of the forms, suggesting strange animals. I took more photos that I plan to draw or paint from-

In the sink for washing, reduced to monochrome. I cant resist playing with the image on the computer

The next photo, made dark and with enhanced contrast, looks even more like some insect battle-

More texture added

I saved many variations but I have been reminded that people prefer drawings and paintings! This bloodthirst image is the last computer generated variation for the time being-
