This is true in many ways. I am developing one of my "open-ended" paintings, trying to take some risks and with no clue as to what I am doing.
This where I was two days ago-
Notice that I have tilted it through 90 degrees and added another straight line. What was a landscape with a horizon is now almost a figure study. See what happens when tilted again-
It is now a kind of portrait! We cant help trying to find an image in the swirling shapes. Yet this is feeling too safe so I add another element-
I just drew around a kitchen plate. A fairly arbitrary choice. I have worked on it more-
I dont know if there is a "right way up" to this. Back to landscape and more development-
All this is on a canvas panel. Thin acrylic applied with a small nylon brush and quickly rubbed in with my fingers. I wonder where it is heading?
