My first picture is a pastel i did about 6 months ago. I was playing with 3-point perspective and the fact that pastel can blur, perhaps suggesting wind.
It does have some relationship with my anxiety about world climate, but I didn't set out with that aim. In playing with ideas and forms, perhaps "meaning" can result. Be careful about setting out with a message.
I have been developing the charcoal scribble I posted yesterday-
It connects to things I was doing many years ago. I like creating form from random lines. I also feel it gains strength when simple shapes like rectangles are added
I have played with adding holes and building up the shading. All done with rubbing the quickly applied charcoal.
I keep tuning the image. Every angle produces a different mood.
Since I was young I have been interested in the relationship between organic form and geometric form. The following is from the late 60s
Playing games here! The background was used in many paintings at that time-
I did produce lots of ideas like this-
Half of art is maybe to do with looking. Half is creating, and that is harder to justify.
