To start, another definition of Art-
“Art is a harmony parallel with nature.”(Paul Cezanne, 1839-1906)
I am cutting out sections from a large beer advert that I've had for some 50 years and never found a real use for.
Cutting out sections with a gradation of tone, slicing them and gluing them with points touching onto another neutral bit of poster, then cutting out the resulting scallop-like shape. Using the poster makes larger units possible.
Continuing with more shapes-
Am experimenting with larger bits of the poster as background, incorporating here a section of tubing. Because the poster is dark (inside a pub) this shows up the need for some lighter elements
There are echoes of nature. Wings perhaps or coiled up insects.
More units needed-
Arranged the above on white paper again. Its a bit like playing with lego, trying different ways of joining.
Back to the dark background. I seem to be creating a kind of glow worm.
I wonder when I will decide on a design and fix things down?
Stay tuned......
