Thursday Dec 24. More open ended experiments.

The bleak invented landscape in last week's blog had a little more done to it. More colour. I will put it to one side pending inspiration.

Being a bit fed up with the kind of blobby shapes that naturally occur when I am using paint freely, I decide to do a tissue paper collage. I found a piece of card with a rough painting of a bloodhound and started pasting torn strips of tissue on it.

More strips added. Turning it through 90 degrees suggests a landscape. There is a hint in the accidental shapes of rocks or waves.

Lots more strips added. Trying to get a wave or vortex. At this point I looked on Google for anything under the search “Invented Landscapes”. Imagination has overtaken observation at many times in Art history. Look at the backgrounds in famous paintings by Leonardo da Vinci.

Some of you might be interested in the work of one artist I found. Christina Batch-Lee is a contemporary New York artist. Look at her website.

The latest stage of this collage. I feel stuck now, but hope to come back to it.

I made a combined tile of two stages of this collage and two photos of work I did over 45 years ago.

Using the clone stamp on Photoscape, I did some mixes. First one-

Ah well, will come back to all this. Happy Christmas everyone!
