Feeling a bit stuck at the moment about producing new exciting work, I have cleaned up and re-photographed this relief sculpture that I did about 20-25 years ago. It is the most mathematical thing I ever did. Somewhere is the graph paper I used to work it out.
The 2 solid blocks have a vanishing point some 6 inches behind the drawn vanishing point. So the illusion in only complete when the viewer is directly in front of that point.
The other photos show what it looks like from other angles.
It is made of thin plywood.
Whilst rummaging in draws in the “studio”, looking for the graphs I used in the above, I found this collection of small collage ideas in an old A4 envelope, so I have photographed them and here they are-
The first one is like the collage I have recently done for this blog.
I don't really remember doing all this. It is about 28 or more years ago.
