I start with another quick charcoal study from one of the images taken from TV news.

One of the techniques that helps avoid careful detail is collage with torn tissue paper. One has minimum control of the areas of colour pasted. The base is a thick card sheet from an empty drawing pad primed with a little gesso.

Trying to keep to a limited range of colours. Also using a sheet of white paper as a kind of Tipex.

To make some of the blue/green areas darker I am putting pieces of dark red underneath the layers.

I have put strips of the colours as a random background. It is good to tackle the same motif using a variety of techniques.

I was thinking about tonal drawings and remembered the simplified drawings of George Seurat, late 19th century-

The balance of forms and light is everything.

This is about glimpses in poor light.

The blurring of faces makes them anonymous .

He used these drawings as preparation for large paintings

Domestic scenes.

Mystery.

Wow!!! You're on a roll....... Love the work.
