Morag has asked if I can give some theory about the set up of still life groups.
This is interesting, because I tend to like daring and even random arrangements.
However, I am aware that there are a lot of conventions about still life composition that I cant help applying when I set up some objects for the class.
I have done a search online and found some "typical" traditional images and they do reveal many of the conventions. The following is a first analysis of some of these-
There are other images I am thinking about and I will post more of this.
Why dont you set up some things and forward an image to me? Or do some quick drawings of a variety of ways of arranging them? Consider lighting and background.
Dad doesn't really do "random". I think "messy" is probably the word!!
