Monday June 28. First blog for a long time!

Writer's picture: Tony JacksonTony Jackson

The last few weeks have been full of other issues, including the allotment.

I have more space to fill now. In a battle with established weeds

For the last couple of weeks I have been working on/off from one of the photos of trees sent to me by Morag, On a canvas 51 x 40 cm, working directly in acrylics.

More structure added. Tones built up with Phthalo blue.

Time was spent building up the grass and twig areas.

The current state of the work. I have been working at the balance between the different areas. Thin white was used to subdue the young branches. A blue and red mix was used to darken areas at the base.

The above painting is a step back, perhaps, to a more careful, developmental way of working after a year doing quick experiments-

A few weeks ago I met up with some of my old class at Chorleywood, during which I did these quick charcoal drawings. Moving figures painting-

The metal stairway-

And the door.

Perhaps my output will increase now that the allotment is basically done!
