Friday February 5. Two ways of doing open ended work.

Feeling fed up two days ago I attacked an A2 piece of paper with charcoal.

Realising how flat it looked I moved to black pastel to build up the tones. Lots of use of a rubber and eventually white pastel to build up the highlights.

Some sense of life emerging from the depths? I added a bit of crimson pastel to the lower part only. Not sure why. Does it make the dark more threatening?

Otherwise I have been taking photos in the house and playing with the images on the computer. This is the view from my bay window-

I like the obscurity from the net curtain so I made it darker.

I like to zoom in on a section.

I did a section twice, one of them blurred.

I then cloned parts of the sharp image onto the blurred. Firstly the blurred-

Now the blend-

i enjoy the mundane being completely transformed.
