Friday August 21. Lichen and fungus – developing ideas.

Writer's picture: Tony JacksonTony Jackson

The main feature of the Wednesday blog has gone no further yet. In a mood of some exasperation I tackled the previous abandoned lichen sketch with a piece of charcoal, changing the sketch marks into invented 3-d forms. This done at speed with as little conscious control as possible.

A piece of paper was used as masking so as to introduce hints of horizontals and verticals.

Taken a bit further-

I have also done some experimental mixing with some of the photos of fungus, First I combined some of them into one image. The clone stamp was used to move bits around more or less at random.

Feeling the need for some quite plain shapes I made an image of simple rectangles of colour.

I then combined it with the fungus compilation.

Then I cloned bits around to see what mixes might be possible. This is getting very complicated!

To make more coherent designs I selected and cropped smaller areas-

I also cloned bits of fungus around to join areas together.

Still to complicated. Needs some rationalisation.

Hmm the first picture makes me think of an atomic bomb explosion...Interesting experimentation!
